THE CHALLENGE
For the past 8 years, UP Entertainment has relied on DeadLizard to develop their annual Upfronts and supporting materials for UPtv, aspireTV and Ovation. Each year, the challenge is to deliver fresh, distinct go-to-market assets that reflect each distinct brand while reinforcing the UPE identity – all designed to drive ad revenue and position UPE as a smart investment for advertisers. One client, three very distinct brands.
UPtv needed to extend AND elevate its recent rebrand into the Upfront presentation, support collateral and e-marketing campaigns, all while maintaining an aesthetic that connects with the Uplifting nature of the channel’s programming.
aspireTV needed to evolve its brand aesthetic for a new year and align their on-air creative with DeadLizard’s elevated designs from the UF presentation. The design needed to embody the energy, substance and style of the Black community the channel connects with.
Ovation needed to evolve its brand aesthetic to reflect a new roster of programming. The creative needed to elevate the brand and embody its commitment to the arts, culture, and captivating entertainment.
THE INSIGHT
Even if brands fall under the same portfolio, it’s vital to understand and identify them as distinct voices that require unique approaches to their creative styles. A one-size-fits all approach risks missing the mark on what makes each brand resonant, especially if the target audiences are different.
THE SOLUTION
Because UPtv’s viewing audience seeks Uplifting content that is wholesome and supports family values, DeadLizard translated UPtv’s recent minimalist rebrand into a more elevated, cinematic look. The new branding was used for the Upfront presentation, and disseminated across supporting one sheets, leave behinds and key e-marketing deliverables that effectively connected with media buyers and drove traffic to the website.

aspireTV programming celebrates Black life, style and stories, drawing in its audience by honoring and amplifying their lived experiences. DeadLizard developed an evolved aesthetic that captured the vibrancy and visual language of this community. By integrating the aspireTV logomark into a design canon that seamlessly extended across the upfront presentation, all supporting collateral, e-marketing materials and on-air graphics, we created a unified brand for a powerful new sales cycle.
